ANIMALS LEFT IN VEHICLES

  • Please leave your animal at home. Your animal could die in less than 10 minutes if left in an unattended vehicle while you do your shopping in the summer heat. When left inside a vehicle even with the windows down 2", the temperature can rise to 109 degrees. Your pet could have a heat stroke and die. Leaving your animal in an unattended vehicle violates the Citrus County Animal Ordinance and you may be charged with animal cruelty.


RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERS

  • Provide pets with shelter, fresh food, and cool clean water daily
  • Have a Veterinarian vaccinate pets against rabies annually
  • Purchase a county license for each pet
  • Keep pets confined to their own property
  • Respects the property of others
  • Spends quality time with their pet, obedience training, grooming, playing
  • Regularly takes pet to veterinarian for vaccinations, and treatment
  • Does not leave animals unattended in a motor vehicle while running errands
  • Has pets spayed or neutered to prevent unwanted litters
  • Are informed about local animal control laws
