Our adoption story was quite an emotional rollercoaster.
Three months prior to adopting, my husband and I found a cat outside in the woods. So we took her in our home, and set up an appointment for her to get fixed. On the late afternoon of her appointment, we received a call that she did not make it under the anesthesia, and passed away. We were both so devastated, and my husband refused to get another cat. It was just so emotional to experience that.
I convinced him to go look around at the shelter, and we did not find any kittens in the front room, so one of the workers showed us the back area of the other kittens that were around. We looked and looked, and came across a VERY LOUD kitten.
I was not much of a lover towards cats who constantly meowed, so I went to the next. My husband, however, was eager to hold this loud kitten. He held the kitten, while I went and looked at another, where I found the “perfect” little kitten. He was so tiny and so scared, and as soon as I held him, he fell asleep.
After my husband and I did a little debating on what kitten to get, we agreed on the QUITE kitten, and did the paper work. After the cat was given their mandatory test and what not, it came to the conclusion that the little kitten I picked had leukemia. Since it is so contagious to other animals, we were no longer aloud to adopt the poor little kitten.
After experiencing that, I felt like maybe we should not adopt a kitten anymore, and my husband suggested we go back and look at the "annoying" kitten. I agreed, and when we went back he meowed so much, and was just so eager to get out of his cage. The worker said that not many people were interested in the kitten, and he was looking to be “put down” the following day. My husband said that this cat was the one, and so I agreed.
WELL, I have to say, that I could not be much happier with our big guy BANDIT! He has grown so much since, and HAS NOT MEOWED SINCE!! He loves to sit in the window and watch us as we leave, he LOVES car rides, and road trips, and even greets us at the door whenever we come home. He is very friendly, he loves to play and loves attention!
