"Dougie"

Posted: 10-28-11

On Oct. 12th I adopted "Dougie" a 6 months old Male kitten, It was a very exciting day for Dougie and myself.

I was out to get a baby, but was introduced to Dougie by this nice lady that works at the shelter. She put him in my arms and it was love at first sight.

The ride home was quite an experience, for both Dougie and me. He was scared "poop less". As I arrived home, I told my husband to not let his first impression guide him. As I opened the cardboard cat carrier, there sat this big orange and white cat/kitten, covered bottom side with feces. I let him come out of the box and gently picked him up and put him in my tub where he got a cleaning, and then a rinsing, followed by a toweling.. I released him and he quickly went into my linen closet and laid down on a carpet. I let him be as I cleaned the litter off the tile floor, and cleaned the tub, and washed the bathroom floor. When done, I walked out and seconds later Dougie was following me until he saw all the space in the master bedroom, so he dashed for under the bed. I went into the living room and waited. A few minutes later, here comes Dougie, slowly walking with his nose to the floor, and he investigated every inch of space in each room. Within minutes he was at my feet with a sweet look on his face and making himself quite at home. Now, I must concentrate on teaching him not to bite me till blood flows..... But I love him, he's a good boy.

Sincerely,
Marie
