(Unfortunate Update)
R.I.P. Penni LePree
Today our beloved Penni took the journey to the Rainbow Bridge where she can be happy, peaceful and free of pain. I believe that our beloved Sasha is waiting to show her around and they will play happily and forever young....
Though we only had Penni for such a short time, she is a huge presence in our hearts. She taught us much about love and what it means to have a strong spirit and make the best of what life has to give. Today I have deep pain in my heart, but I know this will mellow over time. We let her go before she had to suffer. She will remain forever in our hearts, she will be loved forever. Rest in Peace my sweet Penni Pug...
I have always felt that Penni was meant to be our dog. We just happened to go to the animal shelter that day in August and there she was in the quarantine cage. She was so cute and such a little mess and we just had to take her home. We will never regret one moment of the time she spent with us. After who knows what kind of challenges she'd suffered in her life, she had a life of love and luxury while with us. And she filled our hearts as well. Two weeks ago we came up against the one health problem we couldn't fix. Her cancer came back full force (mast cell) and was so aggressive and fast-growing that we had to let her go today. Be assured, she did not suffer. We're forever grateful that you all picked her up in Dunellon and had her there for us that day. Our lives have been greatly enriched by her presence.
Thanks again for the good work you do.
Sincerely,
Sandy LePree

Dear Dr. Julie,
We saw the really nice article and picture of you in the paper the other day and felt guilty since we still haven't emailed to tell you how Penni is doing.
Hopefully you remember her...the little old lady pug we adopted back in Aug. She had hardly any hair and many lumps as well as other health issues. She had been picked up as a stray in Dunnellon. Well we are pleased to tell you that she is doing amazing! Her hair has all grown back. She had surgery to have her lumps removed. She also had a dental issue addressed and has bounced back like a much younger dog. She takes several pills twice a day and reminds me to give them to her. She and the cats are at ease with each other. She's very happy here and we are so happy to have her. She is our little snuggle pug! I have included a picture so that if you remember what she looked like when we got her, you can see how amazing she looks now. Countryside Animal Clinic thinks of Penni as one of the miracles!
Thanks for all of the good work you and the rest of the Animal Shelter staff does. Merry Christmas to all...
